A trail ride is a super break for riders who want to explore the Yorkshire Dales on horseback. All our trail routes follow bridlepaths and the old green lanes, some of which have been in use since Roman times. Spectacular views of local landmarks such as Malham Cove & Tarn, and Buckden Pike are commonplace on our rides, and there are plenty of photo opportunities.
As there will be at least five hours of riding a day, the rides are designed for riders with some riding experience. Riders should able to trot and canter in the open, and should have done so before coming on the ride. Overnight stops are at local pubs or family run B&B’s, usually stopping for lunch at a pub too. If a packed lunch is necessary, then we provide this for second or third days. Rides can be booked by groups or individuals, and all are made to feel equally welcome. We do 2 day (1 night away) or 3 day (2 night) rides. This year we are able to offer a 5 day ride, please contact us to register your interest for this ride. Horses and ponies are a mixture of native ponies, cobs and hunter/eventer types. All are well-schooled, many competing in pony club competitions and other local events and great care is taken to match horse and rider. Riders will need to provide a decent sized bum-bag (for a drink and sandwiches), warm and waterproof clothing and gloves. Hats to the current BSI standard must be worn, these can be borrowed from the Centre if necessary. Ride back up is provided by car, but not all parts of the route have vehicular access, so waterproofs may need to be attached to saddles. Overnight bags will be transported by vehicle, but please don’t pack the kitchen sink – a suggested kit list can be provided on request. The rides are ALWAYS escorted by experienced riders. PRICES 20072 DAY RIDE - £195 There is a non-refundable deposit of £50 per person per night, payable upon booking. Anyone requiring a single room will be required to pay the single room supplement. These prices include all riding and accommodation costs, but you must pay for any meals or drinks you require.
